Federico Heinz is a programmer from Latin America and Free Software activist. He co-founded the Vía Libre foundation which promotes the free dissemination of software and knowledge as a drinving force behind social progress and sustainable development.

He advises organisations and the legislation throughout Latin America on the interdependencies between technology and society. In this capacity he helped draft a proposed law, which now functions as a blueprint for a variety of projects, including those of Peruvian delegate Villanueva, Senator Code from the Province of Buenos Aires and many more.

Federico is an FSF speaker, and he has speaking engagements at many international events dealing with Free Software, some of which he also helps organize.
