Wolfgang Sander-Beuermann

Wolfgang Sander-Beuermann is project lead of the Search Engine Lab at the Computer Center of Lower Saxony, University of Hannover.

His current research is in the development of Internet search engines. The two most popular projects are the leading German meta-search engine MetaGer.de and ResearchPortal.Net. The latter is funded by the German Ministry of Education and Research and is aimed at full access to the German scientific web. This specifically includes the so-called "deep-" or "invisible" web - that part of the Internet that is now mainly invisible to the popular search engines.

Furthermore, new ranking technologies and steps towards the semantic web ("associative web"), not only relying upon annotated metadata but on associative relationships, are under development.

Dr. Sander-Beuermann has a diploma in mechanical engineering and a Ph.D., both from the University of Hannover. He did postdoctoral study at the University of California in Santa Barbara.
